America — Now is the Time to Play the Clock Forward
Today is a sad day for our country and the world.
It is normal and in this case, responsible for you to feel angry at what you are seeing right now.
The reasons for what you are feeling are shared by many if not most, and there are aspects of what is happening right now that may evoke a feeling unique to you at the individual level.
We all believe in different policies, people, ideologies, and come from all possibilities of different backgrounds, race, gender, etc.
Regardless of who you are and beyond all the emotions you feel today, there will be a need for action tomorrow.
And so I want to remind you:
As you feel these emotions today and as you play the clock forward through the actions of tomorrow, do your best to remember the humanity in everyone — even (and especially) through the veil of social media…
For you who is reading this, the United States is likely your home.
For you who is reading this, your blood is likely boiling.
As my disbelief in what is transpiring has started to wear off, I know mine is.
As the blood boils, cools, and turns into meditated action remember that… we are all humans and we are all Americans.
When we act, speak (a reminder about how we tend to act on social media), and think in ways that strip humanity away from a Human Being, we turn them into what some believe is the opposite of love: fear.
And we all know what Franklin D. Roosevelt said about fear.
Peace and love to you all in these trying times.
